Previous magic generates invalid serial in 6% of cases. This is most likely to be a bug of the software. When their plugins convert 64bit number value to the ascii text, it doesn't do ZERO padding. This routien is also used for 32 digit GUID generation. As a result, the generated GUID will be broken from time to time.
Good : 0x0123ABCD => "0123ABCD"
Bad : 0x0123ABCD => "123ABCD"
